NEW TECHNICAL SOLUTION FOR THE MARITIME INDUSTRY
MicroChange is in the process of developing a technical add-on solution as part of the ballast water systems placed on ships. The solution meets the requirements of IMOs convention which will be effectuated as of 2024. With the upcoming statutory process that has an impact on the way ships handle ballast water as they cross sea borders, liable businesses within the maritime industry faces changes in their ballast water systems. Our Solution will not only accommodate these new regulations - but also take environmental accountability into account.
Our solution is designed as an in-voyage treatment system, which makes the entire process of treating ocean water decelerated. This is a huge advantage since it makes filtration of ballast water possible, resulting in e.g. time optimization when ships are crossing sea boarders. The ship also gets a whole new functionality, as our solution is designed to separate and collect micro plastics from the ballast water – so that the ship contributes with a positive impact on plastic pollution in the ocean.
BREAKDOWN OF THE UNIT
HOW DOES THE SYSTEM WORK?
• A pumping unit circulates the ballast water throughout the system
• A filtration unit with selfcleaning backflush function retrain oceanwater from the centrifugal separation unit
• A centrifugal separation unit separates marine biomass and micro plastics from the remaining ballast water
